Nepal pulled off an overthrow against four-time World Cup participants the Netherlands by two wickets in the ICC World Cricket League (WCL) Division 2 match at United Cricket Club ground in Windhoek, Namibia on Sunday.
Chasing a target of 159 runs Nepal required three runs in the last over and met the target in the initial three balls. Sharad Vesawkar hit the winning run. Sharad remained not out on 24 runs off 53 balls.
Nepal had lost its opener against Uganda by two runs on Saturday. Coincidently, Nepal had lost its opener of the ICC World Cricket League Division 3 against Uganda around three months back yet secured the title in the wake of crushing the same rival in the last.
Nepal made an unstable begin losing opener Naresh Budhaayer and Gyanendra Malla in two consecutive balls of the third over with just five runs on the board.
But, the other opener Subash Khakurel (15-run off 51-ball) and captain Paras Khadka (19 runs off 57 balls) secured the Nepali innings offering a 30-run stand for the third wicket. Paras also shared the highest 34-run association with Binod Bhandari, the most astounding scorer.
Nepal will tackle Canada in its third match on Tuesday.
