KATHMANDU — UCPN (Maoist) official Lyarkal Lama has been arrested with 14 rounds of bullets on Sunday.
He was arrest after the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) discovered bullets from his Nepal Investment Bank locker in Durbarmarg during of its investigation.
Lama has handed over to the police office in Durbarmarg for further examination.
Lama, who has been accused of having a Nepali and Indian passport, a Tibetan refugee card and citizenship certificate from various districts of Nepal, was former CA member from the CPN-UML.
Lama was a State Finance Minister during Jhala Nath Khanal’s tenure as prime minister but had to resign from his state minister post following controversy over his citizenship certificate.
He then quit UML and joined UCPN (Maoist) where he was appointed as lawmaker despite some strong reservations from within the party.
The Election Commission had appointed Lama as Constituent Assembly (CA) member under the proportional representation (PR) quota from the UCPN (Maoist) on February 8.Follow @gorkhapost
Three arrested with tiger hides
KATHMANDU- The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) on Tuesday arrested three persons in possession of tiger hides.
The CIB said that Man Bahadur Tamang of Shailung Rural Municipality in Dolakha; Lokmaya Gurung of Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality in Gorkha district and Amar Singh of Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality in Saptari district were arrested from Budhanilkantha in the capital city acting on a tip off about their involvement in smuggling of animals’ hides and skeleton.
All three have been sent to the Division Forests Office, Kathmandu for further actions. According to the Superintendent of Police Sudip Giri, the alleged would be booked as per the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act, 1973 and CITES Convention, 1975.Follow @gorkhapost
