Two killed, 10 injured in Morang road accident

ITAHARI — At least two persons were killed and 10 other were injured in a road mishap at Sundarharaicha-7 in Morang district this morning.

The deceased have been identified as Uma Niraula, 51, and Shyam Karki, 52, of Bhadrapur-15, in Jhapa district. They died on the way to Biratnagar for treatment. The bodies have been kept at Golden Hospital.

The accident took place when a microbus (Ba 4 Kha 6919) en route to Kathmandu from Jhapa collided with a tree at the roadside after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The injured have been sent to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan, Itahari-based Community Hospital and Biratnagar-based Golden Hospital for treatment, according to the Eastern Regional Police Office, Itahari. Of the injured, condition of some persons is said to be critical.

NA chair stresses on quality and vocational education

KATHMANDU- Chairman of National Assembly (NA) Ganesh Prasad Timilsina has said that the vocational and quality education were the first priority of the state.

Inaugurating the golden jubilee programme of Pashupati Secondary School of Modi Rural Municipality today, NA chair Timilsina said that technical and quality based education were the foundation of the prosperity of the nation.

On another note, he shared that 339 existing laws will be amended until March 5 and 124 new laws will be enacted.

Similarly, Gandaki Province Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment Minister Bikas Lamsal said that the provincial government was urging federal government to declare Pokhara as tourism capital.

Speaking in the same programme, Pakistani ambassador to Nepal Mazhar Javed said that age old ties between Nepal and Pakistan will be further strengthened and partnership would be fostered in the education sector as well.
