Tractor driver drowns in Mahakali River

KANCHANPUR — A tractor driver drowned in the Mahakali River on Sunday when collecting stones.

The tractor (Se 1 Ta 7648) along with its driver, Bir Bahadur Dagaura, of Naukhari area of Jhalari Pipaladi Municipality of Kanchanpur, was swept away by high currents in the Mahakali River.

A search in the river recovered the driver’s body which was stuck in the tractor, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Kedar Khanal, of District Police Office, Kanchanpur. His body has been sent to Mahakali Zonal Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The police on Sunday arrested Bimal Chaudhary, 36, of Rajapur Municipality – 17 of Bardiya in accusation of raping a teenage girl. Chaudhary was arrested from Jhalari Pipaladi Municipality – 10.

Chaudhary is accused for raping a 17-year-old girl of Tapara area at Attariya in Kailai two days ago. He had allured the girl with a promise of marrying her.

BAITADI— Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forests and Environment of Far-West Province Maya Bhatta has said that Far-West Province has high potentials for development.

At an orientation programme for journalists in Baitadi on Saturday, Bhatta said that the Far-West Province has high chance for religious tourism.

On the occasion, Province Minister Bhatta feted Far-West Provincial Chairman of National Association of Tourism Journalists (NATOJ) Amar Raj Bhattarai and newly-elected Chairman of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Baitadi chapter Mahesh Prasad Awasthi.
