KATHMANDU — The Constitutional Council (CC) has re-recommended senior-most Justice at Supreme Court (SC), Sushila Karki as Chief Justice on Monday.

In a meeting of the Constitutional Council held today at Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar, members from the Council endorsed Karki’s name for the post.

Karki was earlier recommended for the post by the Council. But, Speaker Gharti had reportedly expressed her disappointment over the recommendation process as the Constitution requires 100 percent participation of CC members to take any decision.

Speaker Gharti was absent owing to illness in the meeting.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, however, had said that he had taken consent from Gharti at Sumeru Hospital, where she was experiencing treatment.
