Speaker Gharti leaves for UK

KATHMANDU — Speaker Onsari Gharti has left here for the United Kingdom for a five-day official visit on Saturday.

She was invited by the UK parliament on the occasion of the bi-centenary of Nepal-UK bilateral ties.

Talking to the media persons at Tribhuvan Airport before takeoff, Speaker Gharti said her visit would reinforce relations between the parliaments of Nepal and the UK.

Speaker Gharti is scheduled to meet her counterpart there.

She further informed that she will soon call parliament meeting after returning home.

The delegation comprises chief whips of Nepali Congress Chinkaji Shrestha, CPN (UML) Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, UCPN (Maoist) Hitraj Pandey and Rastriya Prajatantra Party’s Dilnath Giri.

Similarly, other members are General Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat Manohar Bhattarai and Secretary Mukunda Prasad Sharma.

Advance booking open for Dashin

Kathmandu—Finally, Federation of Nepalese National transportation Entrepreneurs Association agrees to open pre-booking for Dashin after the government decided to increase public transport fares by 10 percent.

The federation was demanding to unfreeze their bank accounts and adjust the fares in view of rising fuel prices.

On Saturday after the agreement between the government and federation, the transportation entrepreneurs opened advance booking.  Most of the counters set up banners announcing pre-booking for Dashin and many people were in que to book the ticket in advance.
