President, Vice-President extend best wishes on New Year



KATHMANDU — President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun have expressed best wishes to all Nepalis living at home and abroad on the occasion of the New Year 2074 BS.

In a message today on the occasion of New Year 2074 BS, President Bhandari has said that we have the responsibility on our shoulder to make the nation prosperous, developed and self-reliant on our own through proper utilization of sufficient natural resources and moving the journey of socio-economic prosperity ahead in the country together with the historical achievements received from the political changes.

The President has wished one and all for a happy and productive year saying that time has come to move the nation ahead with new thoughts, style and destination. The President has said that the first priority of ours was the institutional strengthening of democracy and has urged all Nepalis to make contributions from their sides for its strengthening.

On the occasion, she has extended best wishes for the happiness, peace, long-life, goodwill and harmony wishing for national unity and prosperity.

In a similar message, Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun has wished for a developed and prosperous nation with socio-economic transformation and constitution’s implementation saying that attention of all would be the common agenda of nation building.

The Vice-president has said that no one should be deprived of right to vote by taking part in the local level elections ‘to decide the locals’ fate on their own’ that was achieved after the long struggle.

The Vice-President has also extended best wishes all Nepali brothers and sisters wishing for their happiness, peace, good health, solidarity and continued progress and prosperity.

FPTP vote count concludes, UML emerges as largest party with 80 seats



KATHMANDU — The vote count for the First-Past-The-Post (FPTP) for the House of Representatives and provincial Assembly elections has for concluded on Wednesday.

As per the final result, CPN-UML has emerged as the largest party of the nation with 80 seats to the House of Representatives and 168 seats on provincial assemblies.

Similarly, the CPN (Maoist Centre) has won in 36 federal constituencies and the party has emerged victorious in 73 provincial constituencies.

Likewise, the Nepali Congress (NC) has won in 23 federal constituencies. The party has been elected in 45 provincial constituencies.

Federal socialist Forum Nepal (FSFN) and Rastriya Janta Party Nepal (RJPN) have secured victory on 10 and 11 seats on federal constituencies and 24 and 16 seats in provincial assemblies respectively.
