Pregnant singer shot dead for refusing to stand while singing in Pakistan

LARKANA — A pregnant Pakistani singer was shot dead during a festive ceremony in Kanga village near Larkana district of Sindh province on Tuesday as she refused to stand while singing.

Twenty-four-year-old Samina Samoon, also known as Samina Sindhu, was allegedly shot dead by a man identified as Tarique Ahmed Jatoi after late the singer reportedly refused to oblige the ‘demand’ that she stand up while she sang as she was pregnant, Dawn reported.

The accused Jatoi who was allegedly intoxicated had pestered the victim to obey before he shot her dead. She was rushed to local hospital Chandka, but could not survive her injuries and was pronounced the dead.

Her husband has demanded that the First Information Report (FIR) should charge the accused of double murder for killing his wife and unborn child.

The accused has been arrested and an investigation has been launched into the singer’s murder.

Senior actor Madan Krishna Shrestha undergoes successful Parkinson’s surgery





KATHMANDU — Senior actor Madan Krishna Shrestha has successfully undergone a surgery for Parkinson’s disease at Annapurna Neuro Hospital in Kathmandu.

It is mentioned that a team of doctors performed Deep Brain Stimulation surgery in globus pallidus part of the brain,in a press statement issued by the hospital.

Dr Resha Shrestha and Dr Basanta Panta jointly performed the surgery on Thursday.

The 68-year-old actor has been suffering from Parkinson’s disease for the past nine years and the symptoms were prominently seen in left side of his brain for four years.

This is the first time the hospital conducted such a surgery, the press statement reads. Now other Parkinson’s patients could avail of this treatment from the health facility.

It has been learnt that Shrestha’s health condition has improved. Since some problems were diagnosed in the right side of his brain, pacemaker has been installed, said the hospital.
