Police save youth from suicide with help of Facebook

KATHMANDU — In an odd occurrence of its kind, police have saved life of a young who evidently was going to commit suicide in the wake of posting a suicide note on his Facebook page.

The Facebook’s Ireland-based data centre investigated into profile of the man and informed Nepal Police about the incident at around 1 am today, right after the post.

After getting the information, Nepal Police acted and saved the life of the youth by providing necessary counseling to him.

A team led by Inspector Pashupati Kumar Raya from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division in Kathmandu was assigned to investigate into the case.

The Division also sought help from police in Jhapa district to locate the boy and counsel him.

According to the investigation, the boy who attempted to commit suicide is from Jhapa and is studying in Bachelor’s level.

The boy after returning to a normal condition thanked police for saving his life and pledged not to repeat such reckless act again.

Two died and eight injured in accident

KATHMANDU—Today morning, Two died and eight injured when the microbus (Ba 3 Kha 4042) and minibus (Lu 1 Kha 4194)   collided each other in Myagade Rural Municipality-4 of Tanahu district.

Police has identified the deceased as Chija Kumari Batas of 50 and Saraswati Kunawar of 35.

The injured passengers of Microbus are identified as microbus driver Tul Bahadur BK, Sabila Khan Namuk Miya, Chandra Bhandari, Bindu Maya Thapa, Kamala Sura and Satyakala Neupane.

The cause of the accident is not identified yet.
