Nokia launches Nokia 3, Nokia 5 Android Phones at MWC

BARCELONA — Nokia’s brand partner HMD Global has launched Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 Android smartphones on Sunday at MWC 2017 in Barcelona.

The company has also unveiled the iconic Nokia 3310 model at the same event.

The company, alongside the two new Nokia Android phones, also announced the global availability of the Nokia 6, which was launched in China last month.

Nokia 3 runs Android 7.0 Nougat, while the Nokia 5 smartphones runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. The company stressed that all the new Nokia smartphones running Android will get regular updates.

The Nokia 3 sports a poly carbonate body, machined aluminum frame, and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass lamination on top. It will be available in Silver White, Matte Black, Tempered Blue, and Copper White color variants.

The Nokia 3 sports 8-megapixel front and rear camera. Both the cameras come with auto focus. The company adds that the Nokia 3 sports display flash.

It sports a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS display. It is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor clocked at 1.3GHz coupled with 2GB of RAM. It comes with 16GB storage and supports expandable storage via microSD card (up to 128GB).

Likewise,Nokia 5 features a fingerprint sensor embedded on the home button and comes with metal body. Similar to the Nokia 3, the Nokia 5 will be available as both single SIM and dual-SIM variants though availability will depend on the market.

Nokia 5 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. The handset comes with 16GB inbuilt storage and supports expandable storage via microSD card (up to 128GB). It sports with 5.2-inch IPS LCD (720×1280 pixels) IPS LCD display and comes with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass cover on top.

The Nokia 3 has been priced at EUR 139 while the Nokia 5 has been priced at EUR 189. The Nokia 6, on the other hand, will be available at EUR 229.

Nokia 7 launched in China

BEIJING — HMD Global, has launched Nokia 7, the mid-range smartphone in China, the first Android device from the brand which promises flagship-like features at almost half the price of the Nokia 8.

The Nokia 7 comes with 7000 series aluminium build and sports Corning Gorilla Glass at the back. The company says that the handset’s back uses 3D glass thermoforming technology for casting, and comes with rounded corners.

The all-new Nokia 7 has been launched first in China and will be going on sale starting Tuesday but there’s no word on the availability of the Nokia 7 outside China as of now.

The Nokia 7 comes in two variants: 4GB RAM priced at CNY 2,499 and 6GB RAM at CNY 2,699.  Both the variants have 4K video with Nokia OZO audio technology that supports 360-degree recording. There’s 64GB storage and comes with expandable storage up to 128GB (via microSD card).

The Nokia 7 features 5.2-inch IPS 2.5D display with screen resolution of 1080×1920 pixels and also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top.

The smartphone features the new octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 clocked at 1.8GHz and packs 3000mAh non-removable battery.

It runs on stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat and comes with timely software update promise from the company. HMD Global has also confirmed that the Nokia 7 is Android Oreo-ready.

The Nokia 7 sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture lens and dual tone flash. At the front, there’s 5-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture.

The phone comes with USB Type-C port and also supports NFC connectivity options. At the back, the handset sports fingerprint scanner.
