Man held for attempted rape on minor

BIRGUNJ — Police here have arrested a man on charge of attempted rape on 10-year-old girl in Bahaduramai Municipality-5 in Parsa district on Wednesday.

The news of the rape case came to the fore within a month of another similar incident in the district, where a 10-year girl was brutally, repeatedly, raped.

Accused 23-year-old Mani Bhusan Pandey had asked the minor, who was returning home from school, to take away her goats which were tied at his home, before pouncing on her, according to Parsa District Police Office.

Pandey, then taking advantage of the situation, had latched the door from inside, before committing a heinous crime, police said.

Pandey manged to flee the scene after the victim screamed for help before the neighbors could gather around the incident site, police said. Later, Pandey was apprehended by the Dakaila Police in the district.

The victim is under going medical treatment at the Narayani Sub Regional Hospital in Birgunj Metropolitan City.

NA chair stresses on quality and vocational education





KATHMANDU- Chairman of National Assembly (NA) Ganesh Prasad Timilsina has said that the vocational and quality education were the first priority of the state.

Inaugurating the golden jubilee programme of Pashupati Secondary School of Modi Rural Municipality today, NA chair Timilsina said that technical and quality based education were the foundation of the prosperity of the nation.

On another note, he shared that 339 existing laws will be amended until March 5 and 124 new laws will be enacted.

Similarly, Gandaki Province Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment Minister Bikas Lamsal said that the provincial government was urging federal government to declare Pokhara as tourism capital.

Speaking in the same programme, Pakistani ambassador to Nepal Mazhar Javed said that age old ties between Nepal and Pakistan will be further strengthened and partnership would be fostered in the education sector as well.
