Local smear shoot on rape suspect

DHANGADHI — Locals have smeared black shoot a man’s face, who attempted to rape a woman, and made to walk him around the village with shoe-garland before villagers slapped him Rs 200,000 as fine, in Kailali district.

The alleged suspect identified as Krishna Chaudary of Kailari Rural Municipality-1 had made a rape attempt on a woman at her rural setting in the district on Friday night, according to the locals.

Locals tied up Chaudhary whole night before the villagers gathered next morning to smear soot and making him walk around the village with shoe-garland before slashing Rs 200,000 in fine, according to Halusia Police Post.

The victim, who managed to escape the scene,however, the villagers held Chaudary after the victim screamed for help in the night.

The victim had pleaded for immediate action rather than filing a police report which ultimately convinced villagers to take actions on their own.

Meanwhile, the suspect is on the run and a man hunt has been launched to nab him, Pant shared.

All programmes of Nepal Sambat New Year 1139 cancelled





KATHMANDU— All the programmes to be organised on the occasion of the Nepal Sambat New Year 1139 have been cancelled due to the demise of pioneer of the Nepal Sambat movement, and leader of the Indigenous Nationalities movement and human rights movement, Padma Ratna Tuladhar.

All the programmes have been cancelled in honour of late Tuladhar. A meeting of Nepal Sambat Nhudah National Celebration Committee held today took the decision to this effect.

A Main Celebration Programme had already been scheduled at Basantapur, Kathmandu, on November 8 on the occasion of Nepal Sambat 1139 New Year this year too as in the previous years. All programmes to be organised at different places on the same day have also been cancelled.

Coordinator of Newa Jagaran Manch, Sujib Bajracharya, said that the meeting also decided to organise all the cancelled programmes at suitable time after the 13th day of the demise of Tuladhar.
