LAS VEGAS — South Korean electronics manufacturer, LG — the leader in big-screen Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) manufacturing, has unveiled the world’s first 65-inch rollable OLED 4K prototype TV that rolls up and stores itself away like a poster at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018.
The rollable display is certainly an improvement over an earlier prototype LG showed two years ago that was only 18 inches in size and had a 1,200-by-810 resolution.
“It can be rolled up and hidden when not in use, and the small size of the rolled-up screen means that it can be more easily moved and stored, allowing for better space utilization, something existing displays can’t deliver,” the company said, in a statement.
Other features about the prototype 65-inch rollable screen, such as its potential availability for consumers, have not been revealed.
The TV would sink down just enough to shift its aspect ratio from 16:9 to the cinematic 21:9, which means you can enjoy your ultrawide movies without the need for any black bars at all with the press of a button.
Being flexible enough to roll, the display panel becomes more organic and natural, the Verge reported.Follow @gorkhapost
