LG unveils 65-inch rollable OLED TV

LAS VEGAS — South Korean electronics manufacturer, LG — the leader in big-screen Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) manufacturing, has unveiled the world’s first 65-inch rollable OLED 4K prototype TV that rolls up and stores itself away like a poster at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018.

The rollable display is certainly an improvement over an earlier prototype LG showed two years ago that was only 18 inches in size and had a 1,200-by-810 resolution.

“It can be rolled up and hidden when not in use, and the small size of the rolled-up screen means that it can be more easily moved and stored, allowing for better space utilization, something existing displays can’t deliver,” the company said, in a statement.

Other features about the prototype 65-inch rollable screen, such as its potential availability for consumers, have not been revealed.

The TV would sink down just enough to shift its aspect ratio from 16:9 to the cinematic 21:9, which means you can enjoy your ultrawide movies without the need for any black bars at all with the press of a button.

Being flexible enough to roll, the display panel becomes more organic and natural, the Verge reported.

NEW YORK — iPhone maker Apple has issued an apology to their users, and offered USD 29-worth battery replacements for a year soon after news of the company having intentionally slowed down older versions of their flagship device — iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S, 6S Plus, and SE through a software update.

The Silicon Valley giant in a letter stated that the replacement offer is being done in a bid to compensate for the degrading quality of batteries.

Apple has also promised to introduce additional features to its software, iOS, to provide more information about the battery health in early 2018, so that users are well informed when their batteries are no longer capable of supporting maximum phone performance.

“We know that some of you feel Apple has let you down. We apologise,” the letter read,The Verge reported.

The letter further stated that batteries are ‘consumable components,’ and is ready to offer anyone with an iPhone 6 or later a battery replacement for USD 29 starting in late January through December 2018.

Earlier last week, Apple confirmed the news of slowing down of old iPhones and said those with older batteries will take a hit in performance.

The company, however, clarified that it is not slowing down older iPhones to urge people to upgrade to newer models, but admitted to addressing an issue with devices containing older lithium-ion batteries that result in unexpected shutdowns.
