KATHMANDU — Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is deliberating to cancel the contract with Kathmandu View Tower construction Company, citing the company’s snail-paced work even after a year of the agreement, not forwarded works even after one year after the agreement.
KMC Spokesperson Gyanendra Karki said that the KMC is going to cancel the contract of the construction company, Jaleshwor Swochchhanda Bikoi Builders Pvt Ltd, after the construction company failed to submit progress details of the view tower that it has been constructing at old bus park in Kathmandu.
Karki said that although the KMC had asked the construction company to submit progress details of the construction carried out so far two months ago, it did not submit the progress details.
He said the neither the construction company has submitted the progress details, nor the contractor has come in contact with the KMC.
Earlier, the KMC had also warned the construction company to carry out works in a regular manner. An agreement was signed between the KMC and construction company on March 5, 2016 to complete the construction work of the view tower within two years.
The 12-storey view tower is being constructed at the cost of Rs 3.5 billion.Follow @gorkhapost
TIA to operate services for 21 hrs daily from upcoming mid-May
KATHMANDU — Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari has said that the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), the only international airport in the country, would be operated for 21 hours daily.
In an interaction organized by the Nepal Tourism Infrastructure Development Council here in the Ministry on Tuesday, Minister Adhikari shared that the Ministry was preparing to operate the TIA for 21 hours daily from upcoming mid-May.
He added that the move was targeted to lessen air traffic pressure as the TIA is facing acute air traffic pressure as of late.
He added that though he was planning to operate 24 hours services in the TIA, it takes time to this effect. He also shared that night flights currently available from Kathmandu to Dangadhi will be extended to Bhadrapur of Jhapa in the near future.
Experts in tourism and culture sectors suggested Minister Adhikari to adopt effective plans and programmes for the development of these sectors.Follow @gorkhapost
