PALPA- Gyanjyoti Community building and library have been constructed at Purbakhola Rural Municipality-1 in Palpa district with financial support of a foreigner.
A Japanese citizen, Suzuki Reyiko provided Rs 500,000 through a fellow Japanese citizen Kazumasa Kakimi for this purpose, said Chairperson of Purbakhola Rural Municipality, Nun Bahadur Thapa.
A one-room community building was constructed and books worth Rs 100,000 were purchased from the financial support.
Similarly, Nepali migrant workers have provided financial support to the family of Ganesh Gaire, who lost his life in course of overseas employment.
Gaire, 38, of Chapakot Municipality-7 in Palpa district handed over Rs 178,000 sent by Nepali migrant workers living in Qatar to the family of Gaire, said a local Kamal Prasad Adhikari. Gaire died in Qatar on October 19, 2018.Follow @gorkhapost
NC leader Regmi passes away
KATHMANDU— Nepali Congress leader Keshab Regmi, who contributed to restoring democracy in 1990, has passed away on Thursday night.
Regmi, who was suffering from respiratory problems for long, died at his residence in Gongabu in Kathmandu. Regmi, who also served as secretary of NC, Kaski, played an important role in establishing Nepal Students’ Union, the student wing of the NC.
He was also sent to jail five times for fighting to restore democracy. He is survived by two wives.
His last rites were conducted at Pashupati Aryaghat today itself. People from various walks of life and NC leaders attended his funeral rite.
On the occasion, NC President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel and General Secretary Dr Shashanka Koirala paid tribute to Regmi by draping his body in the party flag.Follow @gorkhapost
