BIRGUNJ — Industrialist Suresh Kedia was kidnapped by an armed group from Bariyarpur of Bara district on Thursday evening while he was heading for Birgunj from one of his industries in Gadhimai area of Bara.
Some three or four persons shot at and seriously injured his driver Shyam Sah Kanu before kidnapping the entrepreneur, according to police. They then took under control Kedia and taken to India on another vehicle.
Kedia is the operator of Parwanipur-based Birgunj Food Industry among many other industries in the region.
Driver Sah was rushed to the Birgunj-based Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital and undergoing treatment there. He had received the bullet on right temple and, hence, is critical, according to the hospital sources.
PM congratulates Nepali national cricket team
KATHMANDU— Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has congratulated Nepali national cricket team for being able to clinch the International T20 series.
PM Oli in a tweet extended best wishes and congratulations saying he was very happy to know Nepal’s win over the UAE by 14 runs in the third match of the series.
Winning T20 series is another landmark success for Nepali cricket, he said, adding, “It is big achievement for Nepal’s cricket. I would like to heartily congratulate entire members of Nepali cricket squad”.
