ICC World Cricket League Championship : Nepal receives 156 run target

KATHMANDU  — Nepal has received 156 run target against Kenya during the first innings of their second match in the ICC World Cricket League Championship at the Tribhuvan University Stadium on Monday.

After winning toss and elected to field first, Nepal’s good bowling performance saw bundle out Kenya for 155 runs in the match.

Vice-Captain Gyanendra Malla is leading the team today as well as Captain Paras Khadka has not recovered from a surgery yet.

Sharad Vesawkar, who claimed four wickets, showed an outstanding play during the match. He took Irfan Karim’s wicket at 30.4 overs and made a hat-trick as he claimed the last three wickets of the innings.

He took two consecutive wickets of Karan Kaul at 44.4 overs and Shem Ngoche at 44.5 overs and the last wicket of Elijah Otieno at 46.1 overs.

Nepal had suffered a loss against Kenya in their first of the two fifth-round matches held at the TU Stadium on Saturday. Kenya had achieved the double-reduced target of 94 runs in 25 overs at the loss of five wickets.

Nepal are rooted at sixth place in the eight-team standings with six points.

Nepal had suffered the other two defeats with the team during their ICC World Cricket League Division 2 games in Namibia in 2015.

Dahal says discussion about party unification process positive





KATHMANDU — CPN Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachand has said the bilateral discussions regarding the unification between the party and CPN-UML are heading positively.

Chair Dahal apprised the extended meeting held today at his Khumaltar-based private residence of the progress in the unification process.

Talking to media persons following the meeting, party Spokesperson Pampha Bhusal said that time would be taken for uniting the parties.

“The date for the unification cannot be declared right now,” she said while stressing the need to make no haste on the matter of making a new party by merging two political parties.

According to Spokesperson Bhusal, party chair Dahal briefed the meeting about his discussions with the UML chair regarding party unification committee’s reports.

Stating that bilateral talks and discussions on the political and organisational issues were heading positively, leader Dahal assured the meeting that merging process was going ahead to ensure the unification as per the interests of both parties and the nation, according to Spokesperson Bhusal.
