BHADRAPUR — Minister for Agricultural Development, Haribol Gajurel, said the government would soon introduce a provision to grant state pension to farmers involved incessantly in agricultural production for at least 20 years.
Addressing a function held by the Agriculture Development Office for distributing farm machinery today, Minister Gajurel added that government had brought a 27-point working policy for people’s food security and expressed hope it would help draw youth towards agriculture from foreign employment.
“It is necessary to develop commercial and modern irrigation system and seek youths’ affiliation in agriculture,” Minister Gajurel said.
The Minister further said development in the capital would immediately follow development of the agricultural sector which in turn would strengthen the country.
On the occasion, he also pledged to formulate a substantive plan on agricultural sector in the upcoming fiscal year.
Three arrested with tiger hides
KATHMANDU- The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) on Tuesday arrested three persons in possession of tiger hides.
The CIB said that Man Bahadur Tamang of Shailung Rural Municipality in Dolakha; Lokmaya Gurung of Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality in Gorkha district and Amar Singh of Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality in Saptari district were arrested from Budhanilkantha in the capital city acting on a tip off about their involvement in smuggling of animals’ hides and skeleton.
All three have been sent to the Division Forests Office, Kathmandu for further actions. According to the Superintendent of Police Sudip Giri, the alleged would be booked as per the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act, 1973 and CITES Convention, 1975.Follow @gorkhapost
