Gauridaha declared open defecation free zone




BHADRAPUR—Gauridhara Municipality of Jhapa was declared an Open Defecation Free (ODF) zone on Sunday.

The municipality having 12,148 househlods was declared ODF by constructing additional 4,397 toilets during the campaign. Before the campaign, 7,751 households had access to toilets here.

Sahara Nepal-a civil society organization had facilitated the ODF campaign with support from Global Sanitation Fund Programme.

Gauridaha is the 10th ODF-declared local government in Jhapa district.

At the Gauridaha ODF declaration programme, Deputy Chairperson of District Coordination Committee Jhapa, Meena Parajuli shared that the next move is to put in place full of sanitation campaign after the ODF campaign.

On the occasion, Gauridaha municipality Mayor Rohit Kumar Saha pledged to make his local government an example for others.

Jhapa district has 15 local governments.

NBSM seals three petrol stations in Bara





KATHMANDU— The Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology (NBSM) has sealed three petrol stations in Bara district over alleged sharp practices.

The petrol stations that faced action on the charges are Krishna Oil Store at Simrongadh, Sonu Oil Traders at Telkuwa and Aayush Oil Store at Kavigoth.

The petrol stations were found to have been dispensing little amount of petrol than that paid for during a monitoring by a Bureau team, said the Bureau’s Director General Bishwo Babu Pudasaini.
