POKHARA- The Gandaki province government has decided to frame a mass communications bill to make the communications sector well-managed and dignified.
A meeting of the Province Council of Ministers held on Tuesday gave principle agreement to the proposal for framing a draft bill, shared province government spokesperson and minister for physical infrastructure Ram Sharan Basnet.
It may be noted that the province government had decided to establish television along with other media house through its annual policy and programme for the current fiscal year.
Earlier, the province government had already endorsed mass communications policy.
The government is planning to bring the bill for establishing media/communications institutions on its own, monitoring media houses and granting approval for the setup and operation of new media outlets in 11 districts of the province.
Province-3 announces public holiday on Lhosar
HETAUDA— The Province-3 government has decided to grant public holiday on the occasion of Sonam Lhosar.
Issuing a release on Sunday, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law announced public holiday in the Province-3 on the occasion of 2855th Sonam Lhosar on February 5 (Tuesday).
The Cabinet meeting on January 23 took the decision to announce public holiday on Lhosar. A grant Lhosar celebration is also to be organised in Province-3 which has the majority of Tamang community people.
The celebration is taking place in province headquarters, Herauda, on February 4 and 5.
