JUMLA — Property worth Rs 30 million was destroyed after a fire broke out in the OPD Building of the Jumla-based Karnali Academy of Health Sciences early Saturday morning.
The inferno destroyed the research center and laboratory as well as equipment used for x-ray, ultrasound and dental endoscopy, and its pharmacy completely, according to DSP Bishnu Hari Koirala of the District Police Office, Jumla. No human causality has been reported so far.
The fire occurred at 2:15 am today but the reason of the incident is not affirmed yet, said Hospital’s Director Dr Jabed Ahamad Khan.
The fire was brought under control within an hour of the incident with the help of the fire engine of Chandannath Municipality.
Three arrested with tiger hides
KATHMANDU- The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) on Tuesday arrested three persons in possession of tiger hides.
The CIB said that Man Bahadur Tamang of Shailung Rural Municipality in Dolakha; Lokmaya Gurung of Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality in Gorkha district and Amar Singh of Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality in Saptari district were arrested from Budhanilkantha in the capital city acting on a tip off about their involvement in smuggling of animals’ hides and skeleton.
All three have been sent to the Division Forests Office, Kathmandu for further actions. According to the Superintendent of Police Sudip Giri, the alleged would be booked as per the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act, 1973 and CITES Convention, 1975.Follow @gorkhapost
