KATHMANDU — Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said films should be produced for social awareness and change in the country.
PM Oli, at a program organised by Nepal Film Artists’ Association in the Capital on Friday, said the development of film sector could be measured if the films were produced as per need of the time.
“From the government side, I will make utmost effort to assist the film sector,” he vowed, adding that an interaction would be held between the artists and the government in near future.
At the program, noted cine artist Nir Shah was honored with the ‘Dirgha Sadhana’ award. The award carries the purse of Rs 111,111 along with a copper plaque.Follow @gorkhapost
Senior actor Madan Krishna Shrestha undergoes successful Parkinson’s surgery
KATHMANDU — Senior actor Madan Krishna Shrestha has successfully undergone a surgery for Parkinson’s disease at Annapurna Neuro Hospital in Kathmandu.
It is mentioned that a team of doctors performed Deep Brain Stimulation surgery in globus pallidus part of the brain,in a press statement issued by the hospital.
Dr Resha Shrestha and Dr Basanta Panta jointly performed the surgery on Thursday.
The 68-year-old actor has been suffering from Parkinson’s disease for the past nine years and the symptoms were prominently seen in left side of his brain for four years.
This is the first time the hospital conducted such a surgery, the press statement reads. Now other Parkinson’s patients could avail of this treatment from the health facility.
It has been learnt that Shrestha’s health condition has improved. Since some problems were diagnosed in the right side of his brain, pacemaker has been installed, said the hospital.Follow @gorkhapost
