KATHMANDU — Sajha Yatayat Chairman Kanak Mani Dixit was produced before the Special Court on Sunday.
Dixit, also a noted journalist and a human rights activist, was arrested by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) last Friday to probe into the charges of illegally amassing property.
The CIAA produced Dixit before the Court seeking further detention for carrying out investigation.
Dixit was admitted at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Bir Hospital on Saturday after his wellbeing deteriorated.
According to a CIAA source, Dixit was found to have transferred 50,000 US dollars to Metric TV, an Indian television company from his bank account in HSBC.
PM congratulates Nepali national cricket team
KATHMANDU— Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has congratulated Nepali national cricket team for being able to clinch the International T20 series.
PM Oli in a tweet extended best wishes and congratulations saying he was very happy to know Nepal’s win over the UAE by 14 runs in the third match of the series.
Winning T20 series is another landmark success for Nepali cricket, he said, adding, “It is big achievement for Nepal’s cricket. I would like to heartily congratulate entire members of Nepali cricket squad”.
