KATHMANDU — The government has started to distribute a passport through a fast-track process. With this a passport can be obtained from the Department of Passport (DoP) within a day of registering application after paying Rs 15,000.
Similarly the DoP will provide a passport next day after paying Rs 12,000 and two days later after paying Rs 10,000.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Kamal Thapa started the distribution on Sunday providing the first Machine Readable Passport (MRP) readied through the process to Chandrakali Budhathoki of Dang.
Likewise, the DoP said that one can get passport from respective District Administration Offices within 24 hours after paying Rs 10,000.
MRPs will be provided through the fast-track process also in New York, Washington D.C., UAE, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Qatar and in Riyadh and Jeddah of Saudi Arabia.Follow @gorkhapost
Chhayanath Rara Municipality bans liquor
RARA— Chhayanath Rara Municipality in Mugu district has been declared liquor-free zone. Declaration of a liquor-free zone was made amid a program on Saturday with a huge presence of locals from all 14 wards.
The municipality and local police administration had conducted a regular publicity campaign in all settlements for two months.
Chief Minister, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi read out a commitment paper by declaring a liquor-free zone to the municipality.
Chairman of Ward No. 5 Dambar Bahadur Rawal of the municipality shared that the municipality council took a decision two months ago to impose a ban on liquor in the municipality with the conclusion that gender-based violence, child marriage, misuse of development and irregularity increased due to liquor.
Mayor Harijung Shahi, lawmaker Gopal Bahadur Bam, representatives of Mugu Chamber of Commerce and Industries, among others were present on the occasion.
