DADELDHURA, Jan 9: Bhageswor Rural Municipality of Dadeldhura has announced ‘Dignified Chhaupadi Year-2075’ through its village assembly.
Amargadhi Chairperson Kaushila Bhatta shared that the campaign was put in place to end the practice of Chhaupadi – a tradition to seclude girls from a regular residence during menstruation.
The public awareness campaign has been initiated to abort social belief that the women should be banished from the usual residence during menstruation period to appease god.
“We have decided to axe local government’s services and facilities to the person/family if it was found that the girls during menstruation were denied of going to school or were kept in sheds during the period’, she added.
Province-3 announces public holiday on Lhosar
HETAUDA— The Province-3 government has decided to grant public holiday on the occasion of Sonam Lhosar.
Issuing a release on Sunday, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law announced public holiday in the Province-3 on the occasion of 2855th Sonam Lhosar on February 5 (Tuesday).
The Cabinet meeting on January 23 took the decision to announce public holiday on Lhosar. A grant Lhosar celebration is also to be organised in Province-3 which has the majority of Tamang community people.
The celebration is taking place in province headquarters, Herauda, on February 4 and 5.
