Bharatpur metropolis to provide land to Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation to construct cricket stadium




CHITWAN — Bharatpur Metropolitan City has announced that it would provide a land plot to the Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation for developing it into a cricket pitch.

Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Renu Dahal, announced this in a news conference here today.

“Bharatpur metropolis is an area with all types of possibilities. I invite you to come to Chitwan for cricket and the Bharatpur Metropolitan City will provide whatever support it can,” she said.

The Foundation was looking for land plots in various places of Province-3 for construction of cricket stadium, one of its dream projects.

Mayor Dahal said the metropolis was ready to provide the ground located at the metropolis’ ward number 20 for the construction of cricket stadium.

A sports stadium is under construction at this site. She was of the view that the area at the Chitwan stadium could be expanded a piece of its land allocated for constructing a cricket stadium.

She said the metropolis is also ready to provide the required financial and material support for this purpose, adding that a letter would be sent to the Foundation after getting the proposal to provide the land plot endorsed by the metropolis’ board today alone.

The Bharatpur Metropolitan City has said that it has allotted Rs 10 million for this purpose.

Dhangadhi Team Chaurah lifts DPL-2 title

DHANGADHI — Dhangadhi Team Chauraha has won the second edition of Dhangadhi Premier League Twenty-20 Cricket title defeating Kathmandu Goldens in the final match on Friday.

Team Chauraha emerged as the defending champion of the DPL by restricting Kathmandu Goldens to 60 runs while it was chasing 182 runs target.

Put into bat first after winning the toss at SSP grounds, Sompal Kami-led Chauaraha scored a total of 181-4 in their allotted 20 overs and restricted national cricket team Vice-captain Gyanendra Malla-led Goldens to 160-8.

Team Chauraha’s LS Bhandari grabbed highest three wickets giving away 22 runs in four overs. Likewise, Roshan Mustafa took two wickets conceding two wickets while Samsad Sheikh and YS Karki grabbed one wicket each piling pressure on the opponent team.

Along with title, Champion Chauaraha bagged a purse of Rs 2.5 million whereas runner-up Goldens was rewarded with Rs one million.
