Asia Cup Qualifier : Nepal post 95 runs target against Hong Kong

KATHMANDU — Nepal have posted a total of 95 runs target against Hong Kong in a must-win match of the Asia Cup Qualifier in Malaysia on Tuesday.

After winning the toss Nepal chose to bat first but Nepali side were bowled out for a paltry 95 runs with only five batsmen reaching two-digit figure.

The national cricket team’s batsmen failed to score a decent total after dismal performance from its batsmen in its game against Hong Kong at UKM Cricket oval, Bangi, Malaysia.

Nepal was all out for 95 runs in just 37.5 overs.

Nepal have to win this match by a huge margin and hope for favorable results from other matches to secure their place in the final as Nepal are fourth in the standings with just four points from as many matches.

The combination of their big win should go hand in hand with Oman’s big-margin victory over United Arab Emirates (UAE) to have any realistic chance of making it to the final.

It was a brilliant day for Hong Kong bowlers as they ripped the Nepali batting line up with quick wickets. Ehsan Khan was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets. Tanwir Afzal and Aizaz Khan had two each.

ANFA to provide Rs 50,000 each to women football player





KATHMANDU—  All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has announced to provide Rs 50,000 each to the members of Nepali women team which was successful in clinching first runner up position at the SAF U-18 Football Championship held in Bhutan.

A meeting of ANFA presided over by its Chairperson Karma Chhering Sherpa on Tuesday took the decision to this effect.

In the final match held on October 7, Bangladesh defeated Nepali team by 1-0 goal margin. Nepal had reached the final by outshining arch-rival India by 3-1 in penalty shootout.

The Nepali women football team is returning home today, ANFA informed.
