Arrest warrant issued against Sumit Rauniyar, the chairman of Pappu construction

KATHMANDU—The Rautahat District Police office issued an arrest warrant against Sumit Rauniyar, the chairman of Pappu Construction and the son of lawmaker and company owner Hari Narayan Rauniyar, holding the company responsible for a boat tragedy last month.

Five people were killed in Rautahat’s tikuliyaghat village, when a boat carrying 29 people across the Lalbakaiya River capsized after hitting the pillar of under Construction Bridge On August 25.

The Pappu Construction had been given the contract four years ago with a completion deadline of July 2017, but it has not completed yet.

The arrest warrant was issued after the families of victims in the boat accident filed a complaint, arguing that the Pappu Construction didn’t complete the contract on time.

Child killed in road accident

PASCHIM- A child has been killed and two other people sustained injuries in a vehicle accident occurred at Salle, Musikot Municipality-1, Rukum Paschim, today. 

The victim, nine-year-old Prayas BC breathed his last at the District Hospital, Salle. 

The vehicle (Ba 3 Kha 7461) was on its way towards Mulkhola from Salle. The bus fell 150 meters from the road when the driver lost control, District Police Office, Rukum Paschim, stated.

The injured are eight-year-old Jenis BC and the driver whose name is not known. Jenis is said to be in critical condition, Chief of the District Police and Deputy Superintendent Sumit Khadka said. 

According to police, the vehicle ran over Prayas and Jenis who were playing on the road.
