Air Kasthamandap plane crash lands in Kalikot, 2 killed

KATHMANDU — An Air Kasthamandap plane bound to Jumla from Nepalgunj crash-land in Chilkhaya of Kalikot on Friday.

The 9N-AJB aircraft chartered flight had taken off from Nepalgunj to Jumla at 12:16pm with 11 people onboard, including two crew members.

Kalikot Chief District Officer Pradeep Shrestha has confirmed the accident saying that the incident occurred while force landing the aircraft.

Nepalgunj airport sources said that two crew members—Captain Dinesh Neupane and co-pilot Santosh Rana—have died in the crash.

Passengers Megh Raj Giri, 35, Jagadamba Khatri, 25, Ganesh Bhattachan, 35, Sonali Bhattachan, 16, Laxmi Sunar, 30, Govinda Bhandari, Laxman Khadka, 34, Dhananjaya Khatri, 31, and a child were onboard the plane.

A joint team of Nepal Police and Army have gone to the accident site, according to Nepal Army spokesperson Brigedier General Tara Bahadur Karki.

This is the second plane crash in Nepal with only two days. On Wednesday morning Tara Air aircraft with call sign 9N-AHH crashed at Solighoptebhir of Myagdi district on which all 23 passengers have been killed.

Three arrested with tiger hides





KATHMANDU- The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) on Tuesday arrested three persons in possession of tiger hides.

The CIB said that Man Bahadur Tamang of Shailung Rural Municipality in Dolakha; Lokmaya Gurung of Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality in Gorkha district and Amar Singh of Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality in Saptari district were arrested from Budhanilkantha in the capital city acting on a tip off about their involvement in smuggling of animals’ hides and skeleton.

All three have been sent to the Division Forests Office, Kathmandu for further actions. According to the Superintendent of Police Sudip Giri, the alleged would be booked as per the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act, 1973 and CITES Convention, 1975.
