AFC U-19 Qualifiers : Nepal face humiliating 5-0 defeat against Oman

KATHMANDU — Nepal suffered a humiliating 5-0 defeat against Oman in their last group game of the AFC U-19 Qualifiers at the Dolen Omurzakov Stadium, in Bishekh on Wednesday.

Oman which started with a good performance scored three goals in the first half, while adding two more in the second half. In the total four matches Nepal has played in the competition so far, it lost all.

Wednesday’s game against Oman was to salvage some pride for the Himalayan Nation as the country had lost all their previous encounters, but couldn’t prevent further loss.

Oman were playing with confidence in defeating Nepal for progressing into the another round doubled their lead on the half hour mark, after Arshad Al-Alawi scored after a one-on-one situation with Nepali custodian Sorjit.

Oman continued to dominate the proceeding in the second half adding two more goals and gave themselves a good account of making it into the next round as best runners-up teams.

Thamir Al Zaabi scored in the dying seconds of the match. Arshand Al Alawi and skipper scored a brace each to humble Nepal in the last group game of the campaign.

Earlier, Nepal went down 2-0 to Kirgizstan in the first game, while suffering a 4-0 defeat to Bahrain in the second. Likewise, it lost 1-0 to UAE in the third.
