KANCHANPUR — Nepal have defeated host Malaysia by 8 wickets in a final group round match of the ACC U-19 Asia Cup on Tuesday in Bayuemas Oval, Kuala Lumpur.
Nepal completed the 46 runs target set by Malaysia to win from just 33 balls losing two just wickets. Anil Sah scored 26 from 15 while captain Dipendra Singh Airee smashed two sixes for his 12 from 3 balls.
The match was reduced to 24 overs after persistent rain delayed the scheduled time.
Dipendra scored two sixes while Anil managed sme number of sixes along with a four guiding Nepal to a victory in 5.3 overs.
Earlier, Malaysia, winning the toss and electing to field first, offered little resistance against Nepal. The match was to 24 overs each due to rain delay.
Sandip Lamichhane took five wickets while Dipendra Singh Airee and Shahab Alam also claimed two wickets each.
The semi-final spots for top two teams will be decided after the India and Bangladesh U-19 match which is on going in Malaysia.
Nepal now has 4 points after three matches of Group A and have to wait for the result of the match between India and Bangladesh.
Nepal can make it through without much fuss if Bangladesh overcome India. But if India defeat Bangladesh then the three teams will be tied on points and run-rate will come into play to decide the top two.Follow @gorkhapost
