7 new ministers sworn in

KATHMANDU — Seven Cabinet ministers, including three Deputy Prime Ministers (DPMs) were sworn in on Thursday.

With this latest expansion, the Cabinet has now 26 ministers, including the prime minister, six deputy prime ministers, 17 ministers and two state ministers.

This is the first time in Nepal’s political history that Nepal has had six DPMs.

DPM and Defense Minister Bhim Rawal, DPM and Minister for Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Chitra Bahadur KC, DPM and Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare CP Mainali took the oath.

Similarly, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel, Information and Communication Technology Minister Sher Dhan Rai, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Ananda Pokharel, and Minister without portfolio Shanta Manavi were also sworn in.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli appointed Mabani as Labor Minister in place of Asta Laxmi Shakya after the last turned down the offer of ecclesiastical compartment

President Bidya Devi Bhandari administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly appointed ministers in the midst of a special function organized at the President’s office in Sheetal Niwas.

VP Nanda Kishor Pun Pasang and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, among other ministers, were available amid the swearing in function.

Girl raped in Mahottari





GAUSHALA — A 13-year-old girl of Aurahi Municipality in Mahottari district has been raped on Sunday evening.

Police Inspector at Gaushala-based Area Police Office, Bhola Bhatta, said that two local youths — Rakesh Sada and Ritik Sada, both 15 years of age — allegedly raped the girl when she had gone to wash utensils at a nearby rivulet.

Police have arrested Ritik while Rakesh has been absconding after the incident.

Meanwhile, necessary investigation into the case is underway, said police.
