CHITWAN — Six persons died on the spot and 15 other were injured after a passenger bus plunged into the Trishuli River in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-3 along the Prithvi Highway in Chitwan district on Wednesday morning.
The ill-feted bus (Lu 2 Kha 291) heading towards Arghakhanchi from Kathmandu collided head-on with a truck (Na 6 Kha 4972) before plunging about 100 meters into the river, at Fishling, at around 9:15 am this morning, according to Chitwan District Police Office.
It is yet to establish the identities of the deceased passengers, police said.
Five of the injured have been rushed to a health institution in Kathmandu while other are sent to a hospital in Bharatpur.
A joint team from the police, Nepal Army and Armed Police Force have been carrying out the rescue efforts at the incident site.Follow @gorkhapost
Advance booking open for Dashin
Kathmandu—Finally, Federation of Nepalese National transportation Entrepreneurs Association agrees to open pre-booking for Dashin after the government decided to increase public transport fares by 10 percent.
The federation was demanding to unfreeze their bank accounts and adjust the fares in view of rising fuel prices.
On Saturday after the agreement between the government and federation, the transportation entrepreneurs opened advance booking. Most of the counters set up banners announcing pre-booking for Dashin and many people were in que to book the ticket in advance.Follow @gorkhapost
