KATHMANDU — Police have arrested five persons on the charge of murdering the chairman of Federation of Contractors’ Association of Nepal (FCAN) Sharad Kumar Gauchan and made them public on Tuesday.
Metropolitan Police Chief AIG Jaya Bahadur Chand, organizing a press meet at Nepal Police Club, said those arrested are Rajiv Syangtang, Mukesh Kumar Pandey, Santoh Gurung, Shivji Mahato and Prakash Budhathoki.
Five others including Samir Man Basnet and Manoj Pun are absconding, Chand said adding that motorcycles stolen from India had been used to shoot Gauchan.
According to Chand, Samir Man was the mastermind behind the murder of Gauchan while Ambar Bahadur Rana was the sharp shooter.
Gauchan was shot dead in Baneshwar in broad daylight on October 9. He was associated with Danfe Construction P. Ltd.
A special team under DIG Ganesh KC had been formed to launch an investigation into the incident.Follow @gorkhapost
