2 killed as tanker plunges into Trishuli River

CHITWAN — Two persons were killed when a tanker plunged into Trishuli River along Narayangadh-Muglin road section early this morning.

The accident took place when the tanker (Ba 4 Kha 6953) heading towards Pokhara from Chitwan carrying milk collided with a truck (Na 7 Kha 4314) coming from opposite direction at Gaighath and plunged into the river,according to the District Police Office, Chitwan.

The deceased have been identified as tanker driver Santa Bahadur Kumal, 30, of Kolhuwa of Nawalparasi and his nephew Lila Kumal, 22.

Superintendent of Police, Deepak Thapa, said that bodies of both persons have been taken out from the river.

Finance Committee meeting deferred until 1 pm today

KATHMANDU— The meeting of the Finance Committee under the House of Representatives that was scheduled at 9 am today has been postponed until 1 pm.

The meeting was put off for lack of a quorum, said Chairperson of committee Krishna Prasad Dahal. Until 9:30 am, only nine members of the 25-member committee were present in the meeting.

Issues relating to capital expenditures and non-budgetary release of fund were scheduled for discussion in the meeting.
